Trip to Chinaland

January 22, 2010

I’m going to spend the next week in Chengdu for work. For the occasion, I made this animation paying homage to Little Ninja Brothers on NES.

  1. maybe its a stupid question, but how do you make the picture bigger without screwing it up? i don’t know if i’m making myself clear… english is not my mother tongue. once again: you make an 8-bit picture, how do you make it bigger with the same sprites and no noise? thanks for the answer, it’s a really cool and interesting site.

  2. If you work with Photoshop, you should scale your sprite using the “Nearest Neighbor” interpolation setting. You should avoid using bicubic or bilinear interpolation. The interpolation setting is in the “Preferences”. Also, always scale your sprite by integer values (x2, x3, x4, etc.), never scale by numbers with fractional parts or the result will be horrible.

  3. aaah thanks! and i’m really sorry for the trouble! i always search the web first so not to bother with little things, but i was tempted to ask to a pro! haha. thanks again!
