Tribute Games Inc.

September 8, 2011

Jean-François Major, Justin Cyr and I have been working together for several years and we also developed Wizorb together during the past 6 months. So, we decided to join forces and form our own  video game company. Justin is an awesome pixel artist, animator and aspiring sound designer and Jean-François is our mastermind programmer.

We chose the name Tribute Games because when we make games, we want to pay tribute to all the cool games from our childhood. We’re passionate indies aiming at making entertaining games with a focus on pixel art and classic game design (sometimes with a modern twist).

Here’s the animated version of our logo:

The cool jingle accompanying the logo was created by Geoffrey Roy.

Our first game, Wizorb is coming to Xbox Live Indie Games in the upcoming month (the PC version will follow). Wizorb is actually going through the review process before being released on XBLIG. We don’t have a precise release date yet but it’ll materialize in the next few weeks.

I hope you’ll enjoy our games!

  2. Awesome. We moved it to Playtest for a week though. A bug caught us off-guard, but it’s already fixed ^_^

  3. Caan’t waait

  4. Really cool! Gotta love all the icons (Heart, Star, Sword and Skull), I had to frame-by-frame the video to look at them tho. Im just wondering if the mixture of non-8bit samples and vector art with motion graphics is accidental or if its a way of saying “Pixelated tribute games on modern consoles”.
Looking forward to Wizorb and anything Tribute makes! 😀
Btw, Is there a way to join?

  5. Yeah, your interpretation of the logo is spot on ^_^. If by joining you mean working for us, well, we’d need to be able afford hiring someone first… We’re working on that.

  6. That looks awesome. I am really looking forward to see what you guys do next.

  7. Looking good, best of luck guys!

  8. I’m sorry if this has been addressed before, but how is the PC build being distributed?

Thanks & can’t wait to play it!

  10. I’ve worked with Jean-François and I’m not surprised about this. He is both talented and creative. It was only a matter of time before he met people he could start a company with, doing exactly the kind of game on display here.

I can’t wait to play it.

  12. Hello Jonathan!
I like how Wizorb looks, lively pixelarts) I’m pixelartist too, maybe you need extra pair of hands to work? If yes, here’s my portfolio http://pixelartist.ru
Hope to be useful for you and your company!

  13. Hey guys I’m Jodi from Ephemere Games. I just wanted to congratulates you for this new studio. Good luck to all of you; your game looks fantastic, and I hope you’ll show it at MIGS and other indie events at Montreal.

  14. I probably won’t be at MIGS unfortunately but we’re gonna demo Wizorb at L’Amère à boire next week for the monthly meetup (Mount Royal Game Society’s SEPTEMBER SHINDIG).

  15. Bon courage à vous! Excellent projet.

Good Luck! Excellent project! You have to know that many websites are very interesting by old pixel project in France, like http://www.retrotaku.com !! We are waiting Wizorb a lot!

  16. Merci!

  17. Good luck on the new venture, any chance of some PS Vita love?

  18. Hello, Is there any chance for a PSN version of Wizorb for the PS3 & Vita. I am not sure how much harder it is to make a game for those systems compared to the 360 & PC. But I think it would be cool to see Wizorb come out on those systems.

I wish Sony had a system like MS for indies like XBLA Indie games. So it would probably be harder to bring the game to both systems but it would be cool if you could find a way to bring them out on PSN.

Thanks & have a great day

  19. Can’t wait for the Windows version of this to come out. 🙂

  21. Yayyyyyyyyy!

  22. @psp2roundup, @Cool: We’d love to bring Wizorb to more platforms, and I know that it’d be a perfect fit for a handheld console such as the PSP or Vita! However, since we’re a super small team, it was only possible to focus on PC and XBLIG for now. So, not anytime soon unfortunately…

  24. Great news. Looking forward for the PC version.

And good luck with the company! =)

  25. Tribute Games Inc. PIXELTAO, appears to be a very good title to give this particular article.
Exactly where may I actually learn more with regards to this?
