Wizorb Coming to PC November 7th

October 27, 2011

The PC version of Wizorb is ready and will be coming out on November 7th via GamersGate! It supports gamepad, keyboard and mouse controls. As you might expect, using the mouse feels more natural than an analog stick for controlling the paddle. It also makes Wizorb rely even more on reflexes which feels great and makes the game a tad easier. If you wish, you can also play the entire game using only the mouse since the menus and the village controls are supported. Along with the new controls are the new icons in the UI to match the type of controls the player is using.

Oh and a Mac and a Linux port are also in the works (^_^).

UPDATE: Here’s the link to Wizorb on GamersGate:

  1. I might have to get that Mac port even though I already got the Xbox. Can’t take my xbox with me everywhere.

Will Mac version be Steam or is it too soon for that question?

  2. GamersGate? Oh damn. So will there not be a clean, purchasable version without a bulky steam-a-like suite available from your website directly?

  3. OMFG! Seriously!? Next week!? I’m sooo pumped! I’ve been waiting to play it for what feels like years, haha.

  4. @James Monkman (RGCD): GamersGate doesn’t require to install anything (besides the game you download). I already bought a game from them and it’s the typical process: register w. name/password, confirm via email, then buy your games. That being said, we might look into making it available from our website directly (using 3rd party transaction services) someday…

  5. Oh! Well I apologise for my previous outburst then 🙂 Looking forward to the 7th 🙂

  6. Yes! A Mac version 😀

  7. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Im soo Happy!

long time waiting to play this game!

    i dont have a xbox 360 =/

  8. Yes! A Mac version +1

  11. Can’t believe Valve isn’t already all over this…

  12. YES! 😀 So glad!

  13. Wish it was on Steam, if only for the sake of convenience, but I’ll still be all over the PC release. Can’t wait.

  14. Is there any chance of it being included on Desura?
I believe it would have an extremely good audience there.

  15. @John S. Troutman (@TheOnlyTrout): We certainly hope to get it on Steam too!
@Aleksandar Nikolić (@AlexVSharp): Yup, we checked Desura and will try to make the game available there too. And for the Linux release, we’ll also sell the game through Gameolith.

  16. How much, and is the game runnable in 1080p res? I would prefer Steam.

  17. @iSoLateD1: $3 and yes the game can run at 1080p.

  18. Just curious, Since the dev platform is XNA, how will you port to Linux. Monogame 2.0?

  19. @Dart: Yup, that’s it.

  20. @Jonathan Wow, thats really cool 🙂 Cheers !!

I think you will be the first one to port an XNA game to Linux using MonoGame 2.0 🙂

  21. @Jonathan I’m the project co-ordinator on MonoGame, and we are all very excited that you are using MonoGame 2.0 for your Mac and Linux ports. Please keep us informed of releases, so we can update our *released games* page.

    Keep up the great work!

  22. @Dart Terraria is also being ported to Linux using MonoGame 2.0.
    See this video – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLP7Fh5baq4

  23. @Dominique Louis: Sure, and I’ll let Jean-François know about this since he’s the programmer on the project ^_^

  24. I just want to say thank you for having the installer actually check for the game’s dependencies, instead of just assuming they weren’t there. I cannot tell you how much time I have wasted installing DirectX versions that I’ve already had installed for months. Your game not making me do that absolutely made my day.

  25. just grabbed wizorb on gamers gate. unfortunately there appears to be no sound. any thoughts on a solution?

  26. @wiiandthekid: Are you running the game on XP? I think that you need to disable sound hardware acceleration on some machines. Not 100% certain, but you could try this: http://www.ehow.com/how_7312424_turn-hardware-acceleration-sound-card.html

  27. @pixeltao: yup. that was the isuue. thx!! great game by the way…and i hate these breakout type games. lol.

  28. I also have no sound under XP, and when I disable sound hardware acceleration all the sfx are super-laggy (at least a second after the sample is supposed to play). This is a little disappointing and annoying. Oh well, at least it was cheap :/

  29. I bought Wizorb on Desura.
When the Mac version is released will I have to repurchase it for Mac? 🙂

  30. Bonjour,

  31. @Matt Lawson: Desura only distributes Windows and Linux games for now. However, they hinted that they’ll start distributing Mac games soon. So, I guess that it’ll be possible to get Wizorb for multiple OS at no extra cost, but I’m not entirely sure. You’d have to check on the Desura site.

@Remi Turner: Content que tu aimes nos jeux ^_^. Pour Wizorb sur 360, non la souris n’est pas supportée malheureusement. Ta blonde va devoir utiliser ton PC 😛

  32. Is there any chance of a fix for the Windows XP sound issue? I’d hate to have to upgrade my entire OS just to play a(n admittedly wonderful) less-than-£2 game in the way it was intended. After all, none of my other games have this issue – and believe me, I’ve got a lot of games!

Please fix this, if you can.

  33. @Dambrosi: We haven’t found a way to fix this issue yet, but we’ll double-check and post an update as soon as possible if this can be fixed.
